You all missed a great time at Hallett! I had so much fun until my knee started hurting again. Here's some of the pics from Hallett of Pete and I. I also have some avi clips on file if anyone wants to see them.

Who would have thought you could fit two bikes, all of your gear, overnight clothes, cooler, and three people in an F-150. Well, you can!!

We found the world's fastest turtle at Hallett. This guy was moving so fast that Heidi couldn't get a good shot! It took her 3 or 4 attempts just to get this one. Nicknamed "Speedy" of course. Saw the pic of Frank giving the thumbs up, SWEET!!

Nice pics, it sounds like you buys basically had the track to yourselves!! WOoHoo!

Yeah, that turtle is from my mom's side, they are not the most attractive Oklahoman's, but they are family so what can ya do? ;)

Thanks, I was actually giving thumbs up to corner workers, and at lunch I saw the poster. I was like  how the hell.... OHhhh, I was thanking corner workers ;)

I had a great time at the 9/13 Hallett Lapping Day.. or as I like to call it 'Getting Lapped Day'. My little FZR 400 was no match for the bigger bikes but it was perfect for me. It has great brakes and it handles well and it's fast enough to learn with. The bike has a lot more to give then what I'm getting out of it.

We had four people in the Novice group to start out and Tony T.'s friend Tony helped us for the first three sessions on his SV650. I was really tight in the first session so Tony talked to me about relaxing and turning my head through the turn instead of keeping my head down and straight ahead. That really helped and when we did our 3rd session everyone ran off and left me and I had the track to myself for the whole session. Then we got thrown in with the street rider group. The street group had some really fast riders in it and one full blown racer. There were two guys in the pit next to me who had been racing at Hallett for several years and they were tire testing. They were sharing a bike so one of them was riding with the race bikes, and he was the fastest in that group, and the other one was riding in the street group and he was just as fast. Man when that guy went by it was really breaking my concentration. In fact I noticed that I was looking up to see who had passed me every time I got passed and that nearly caught me out a couple of times. The good news is that I got lots of practice at getting passed. I finally got to the point where I wasn't watching the rider after they passed me. Also, when I had the track to myself I was going out to the edge of the track when I came out of the turns and I had to quit doing that because if someone is about to pass you they are going to do it comming out of a turn on the outside.

I got to meet Pete954 and Fireblade. They were really riding fast so we didn't ride together even though we were in the same group. I was really nice to meet you guys.

I rented a transponder and the first session where our instructor just turned us loose my first full on lap was 2.11 and my best lap was a 2.03. The next session my first lap was 2.09 and my best lap was my last lap with a 2.03. My last session started out with a 2.09 and ended with a 2.01. I really wanted to go out on that last session and see if I could get the little 400 under two minutes but my forearms a thighs were feeling it so that's my goal for next time.

Glad you had a good time Tim. Some of the group will be there this weekend for the Ride Safe course and some at the end of the month for Club Day. Hopefully you can show up for one of those. Hope to see you out at the track again. I'm so ready to go back that I wanted to mount handle bars on the steering column for the trip home!

This one is for shane. Here's a 636 on the track. Notice the fact that it's being passed by none other than yours truly! Just kidding, he was doing some tire testing that day and was in and out of different speeds all day.

This one is for Tim. This was taken by Heidi from the Paddock before we had officially introduced ourselves. I believe during the ride around with the instructor.

I wasn't sure if I'd be interested in riding on the track and rode up with Tim just to check things out. After watching all the fun, I realize I need to get out there. I'll probably try and find a used SV to use as a dedicated track bike.

At first, I thought about getting a 600 but figured I ride an SV on the street and should probably ride an SV on the track.

By myself again. In the third novice session everyone ran of and left me so I was by myself the whole session.... sweet!!

Hey Pete954 and Fireblade, the instructor (Tony) had a transponder and I heard that he was right behind you guys during the whole session. His times for that session 1:50:576 for the fastest lap and 1:55:651 for the slowest lap.

This is me getting lapped. :doh

Look at the way the guy passing me is looking through the turn. That's what I was working on and it really helps.

I have a Championship winning SV650, it has even been in a few mags, etc. I would be willing to make you a great deal on that bike :) The bike has turned 1:25.500's out there, so it is VERY capable and priced right.

Call me if you have an interest.

This is me getting lapped. :(

The guy going by me was in the pits next door with the racers. We were calling him 'The Kid'. He said he had bought that bike having never ridden before and had less than 1000 miles on it. He had been to one other track day and Heartland Park and he was already dragging his knee in the Beotch. :wtf

He said he had a video and a book on how to drag your knee and if you look at his riding position you can see it wouldn't take much of a lean to get his knee down.

He had one of those good news, bad news kind of days. The good news was the he scrapped his knee pucks(Both sides). The bad news was that he ran off the track at the bus stop 4 or 5 times. He never crashed but he couldn't get it hauled down enough to make the turn and ran off into the grass. Then after making it through and entire track day with several run offs without damaging his bike it fell over on the trailer while they were strapping it down.

It only did damage to the fiber glass but you could tell it made him sick. He had been saying earlier that his bike looked too good to be a track bike. I think when he saw my bike he was worried that his bike would end up looking like that.
