Does anyone have any suggestions on where to take a Harley to have it dyno tuned? My dad is wanting me to get his Road King tuned for his big bore kit now and I need to take it somewhere and have it done. Willing to drive up to 3 hours or so to have it done.

Any suggestions on who is good?

I recommend CycleConnection.
#1 They do more Harleys than anyone else around here.
#2 Power Commander Dealer (Assuming EFI)
#3 Race-tuner wizards (Assuming EFI)
#4 Huge performance program, with LOTS of R+D experience.

More options, better experience. I know all the performance guys personally. They're very very very sharp.

I'm not saying Performance ATV isn't good, I just doubt they have as much experience in HD's as CycleConnection.

CC was my first choice but I'm open to options. Yes it's EFI and has a Race tuner on it already. I'm trying to get him to upgrade the mufflers first so it's a done deal when I take it to whom ever. I just wish he'd have put cams in it when he did the big bore.

BTW don't you work there? If so, PM me with about what it would run to do it.

I would say CC also. Come on Brian, support the peeps that support Joe and I ;)

They have a very good reputation for tuning H-D's, research them on the net.

Also, RYoung just had his bike done this weekend (I think) if you want some feedback.

While I believe in supporting the peeps that support the sport I love, this has nothing to do with that and won't even be a factor Frank. When it comes to my dad's stuff, money/time really is not that important to him. He wants it done right the first time.

Now this is prolly your place then. They are not a discount house by any mean, and I expect it will be on the dyno 8 hrs + vs the cheaper shops that do it in a couple of passes and call it good. They will get it right the first time.

Some of our recent 95":

95" Big Bore

David Lee - 2006 FLHR 120 HP 106 TQ
Rod Brewer - 2004 FLHTCUI 103 HP 106 TQ
Scott Wade - 2004 FLSTCI 104 HP 102 TQ
Terry Bay - 2004 FLHRSI 105 HP 100 TQ
Collin Banks - 2006 FLHR 105 HP 103 TQ
Brian Bosworth - 2006 FLHX 100 HP 96 TQ
Ace Miller - 2003 FLHRSE 102 HP 107 TQ
Project V Race Bike - 1550cc 221 HP 136 TQ (95" Revolution engine) :)

You can see the figures vary a lot based on the parts package. The performance guys know their stuff. If your dad is still shopping for an exhaust, he might give them a shout as to what they would recommend (they've tested a ton to see what different powerbands work well w/ different ones etc). Have him call Jeremy at 417-623-1054.

I really doubt anyone else around here will be able to tune a race tuner. It is in no way a piggyback like a power commander. There is a bit more to the process.

Nice understatement.

Thats kinda funny. High performance ATV and Cycle broker or the only ones I would trust to work on them, They know what they are doing. They have the programs for the tuners. But its cool if you guys don't want to support a REALLY good local owner. I think their is only one bike around that they wouldn't touch. Not because they couldn't, because they wouldn't. That bike was dumping fluids all over the place. I've seen personally what they can do.And I've seen the amount of Harley's he has done. And they have been trained very well for the Dyno. Bryan takes a lot of pride in what he does.

And I'm not saying anything bad about CC. They are good people.

Kinda off topic, and I'll start my own thread if needed, but can someone give me opinions on the Race Tuner -vs- a Power Commander?

I have an '07 Street Bob. The only mod I want to do is swap out the pipes. Everyone tells me I have to do something with the FI...

The '07 won't care about a muffler swap. The o2 sensors can accommodate that.
Race tuner: full map modification, (spark and fuel), as well as rev limits, and full tunability. 2% throttle at 7000Rpm? Sure. 100% throttle at 1000 RPM? sure. 5% throttle at 3000 Rpm at 32 degrees fahrenheit on mount everest? You bet. Race tuner also allows data capture and recording.

The Power commander only goes off of rpm and throttle position. The fuel will be right, but if you change air temperature, air pressure (i.e. ram air, bad weather, moving/not moving, etc), altitude, etc, it can't compensate and your precision goes out the window, and precision is what make nice, responsive throttle. It will only be correct at the exact temperature and airpressure as when the bike was tuned, and there is no compensation for ramair, wind resistance, etc...

The Race Tuner actually modifies the maps that the ECM uses to control the fueling and spark. The Power Commander just modifies sensor inputs to fool the ECM.
