Supposed to be pretty nice this Sunday. High in the low 70's. Anyone thinking of doing a longer ride on that day? I would like to go down the same route the rain brothers went down on last week. That is if I get bike back together, which it should be.

I may be up for it, not ready to ride in the cold again though!!
I doubt Ike will want to go, he is going out partying with his buddies tonight, my money is he will over sleep in the morning :D

When I was younger, I use party like that once in awhile. Time catches up with us all. I think it's going to be pretty nice tomorrow. Just got back from a ride and it was really nice except for the wind. Anybody else interested??????????

Lets leave the QT at 10am. Both CNI and Ike want to go. Ike and I want to ride down to Jasper, AR again, but CNI has to turn around at Rueter. We will probably do like last time, stop at Billy Jacks for 5 min just to stretch our legs, then head on to Rueter.

Yeah, and there really wasn't much traffic!! At least we didn't get stuck behind it like normally. The weather turned out perfect for the ride down to Jasper, too bad CNI had to turn back at the ferry.
Yeah, I was a bit sad I had to turn back due to time restraints :( BUT....I didn't let that ruin my fun. I ran 125 pretty good coming back. My lines, steadiness, and my focus were "on the money" today. I saw three other riders on sport bikes going down 125 too. A single in full red and white leathers and then a pairing. Was going a bit too fast to see what they were riding. Wish I could have gone down to the Grand Canyon with ya! Thanks for the pics Rick. Wasn't sure what it looked like beyond 30 feet from the parking lot. Stupid fog and rain!
I merged your pics together Rick to create one panoramic view.

zedx and I are going riding tomm. will post pics of ride tomm. night. glad ya'all had a good ride. all of you should go to deal's gap some day.
It is extremely challenging to put together shots that have different exposures and zoom factors.
I love to create panoramas and the best way is to start from a point and go clockwise. As your shooting each frame remember what is on the right side then move the camera so that it is on the left side and shoot again. Repeat until you have covered the area that you wanted to capture. Try to keep the camera as level as possible. Keep the zoom factor the same on every shot too.
I will try to find an example from a NM State Park that a friend of mine shot. It was a full 360 degrees. I put it together for her using the software I have.

Maybe next time I go down there I will try it that way. I never even contemplated that. However, here is a picture of Missouri's little Grand Canyon in Grand Gulf State Park just south west of West Plains I believe is where I was at. It was a couple miles north of Mammoth Springs.

Yea its down there west of Mammoth Springs on 160, make sure it hasn't rained since its a gravel road the last couple hundered yards. If you go make sure that you walk down the stairs on your left side as your walking towards it. Takes you down into it close to a waterfall.
It was a good ride yesterday, but of course it waits until today to get into the 80s.

Here is some of the info I got yesterday using the trip route tracking option. These trips include some of the time we spent stopped unless I spent time inside where it lost satellite signal.
From the QT to Billy Jacks took us 36 minutes and it is 33.5 miles, Avg speed was 56 mph, top speed was 123 which was in the long straights right before Bradleyville. We did not stop at Garrison during this trip.
From Bradleyville to Rueter, took us 15 minutes and it is 15.7 miles, Avg speed was 63 mph, top speed was 108.
From Rueter to Harrison, took us 1 hour 23 min and it was 53.9 miles, Avg speed was 39 mph, top speed was 103.
From Harrison to The Cliff House Just south of Jasper, AR took us 27 min and was 24.5 miles, Avg speed was 54, Top speed was 107.
From The Cliff House to My house, took us 2 hours 10 minutes and we rode 115 miles, Avg speed was 53 mph, Top speed was 113. Total round trip time was 6 hours and 42 minutes. This includes our time spent eating or the 10 minutes we spent at Billy Jacks as well as all the other stops.
Let me know what you guys think about this info and if you would like me to keep posting stuff like this for more of our rides. There has been several of us that have talked about the times it takes us to get from Ozark to Billy Jacks and Rueter before so I thought I would post the times the GPS showed.

I think that info is cool !
Keep posting it up !!
it's cool to know. one day I will have one and be able to tell all that information.
I wonder how much time of the "Reuter to Harrison" leg was waiting and riding the ferry across. That would effect your average speed too.
Amazing how the GPS only recorded 123 top speed. I know you were a bit hotter than that cause you were catching up with me when I was going as fast as I could in those certain sections.
I'll say one thing, my bike sure LOVED that cooler denser air. It was peppy. I
I am impressed by RJ's riding abilities on that FZ1 too! I can't believe that he is there with us all the way through. Way to go Rick! Now that you are keeping up, I would like to see you get a decent motorcycle jacket, please. None of us want to see you go down but I do want to know your prepared! I just bought new JR jacket, pants, and gloves today. I'm watching my eBay bid on new A* boots too. I hope I win them. I'm gunna look like a goober with all that new gear on my "bucket of bolts" but hey, I'm safe.

You know, I was just looking at some type of jacket but really have no idea what to get. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. That was probably the best ride that I had been on since I got my bike a couple of months ago. I couldn't believe that new tires, fork oil and flushing the brakes could make the bike ride that much smoother especially in the corners with brand new tires.
Oh yea, the GPS thing was way cool. Only bad part when we did have to wait for the ferry. I know we average a bit over 40 anyway  Hiway 7 in Arkansas really neat. Would have or should have stopped at that bridge across the Buffalo and took a couple of pics as well but maybe another day.

Ah...good point.
Rick,
Joe Rocket, Teknic, Alpinestars, Icon, and Fieldsheer are pretty much the major brands. All of them make decent gear. Some better than others but some more expensive than others too. I just bought a Joe Rocket Comet (textile with leather on the sleeves) for a mere $138. They retail for $250. Came with full sleeve liner, protection in back, shoulder, and arms and it's waterproof. I happened to be able to try that exact jacket on while I was in K.C. a couple weeks ago. I tried on every jacket in every brand I could find while I was up there. I wrote down what size I wore in each brand. I did that so I could go out on the net and find something cheap. What you need to do is ask people when you go on rides to try on their jackets. That way you'll find out what size you'd wear in each brand. I happen to wear a XL or 48 in Joe Rocket. I'm 6'1" and 200#. From looking at ya I'd think you'd be a Large or 46 in JR.

Firemann was at least looking at, I think he bought a JR jacket that was pretty sweet. It had 2 or 3 different liners which made it a great jacket for riding in warm or cold weather. If I didn't already have a leather and a mesh jacket, I would for sure look into one of those.
I really like my Fieldsheer mesh jacket. The only thing I do not like about my Fieldsheer leather(and it is pretty minor) is the velcro adjustment strap across the waste. My jacket looked alot like Ray's JR leather jacket, but his waist adjusted on each side so all he had to do was zip it up. On the Fieldsheer you have to redo the velcro strap every time you take it off and put it back on.
Is Firemann's jacket the new Joe Rocket Alter Ego? It has a liner that is removable and it has panels that you can zip out to reveal mesh.

That might have been me and my buddy. We were on 125 last Sunday. Didn't go near as far, but it was a great ride. If no one minds, I'd like to go with you guys next time. Great pics by the way. Pretty cool info too.
Did you see a mostly white Hurricane with a guy in a black jacket and white helmet whizzing by? Around noon-1pm? If so, that was me. :D
Who's your buddy? He a member here already?

I think it was a little closer to 2pm. On those roads it's hard to get a good look at someone going the other direction. Don't think my buddy has registered yet, but I'm sure he will. He's got an R6 also.
