View Full Version : Installed cool new levers.
For those of you that didn't know I decided to purchase some of those 5yr guaranteed non-breakable levers from our site sponsor; ASV Inventions. I installed them recently. They were super easy to install AND the cool thing is the one set fits all the major sportbikes! R6, R1, GSXR all, ZX6R and CBR. I thought that was pretty cool. Anyways these are the shorty levers on both brake and clutch and they look BADAZZ! I test rode the bike today with my new levers along with my new gearing. The pull is short and sweet. I've pictured the break-away feature on the lever. I am super happy with them and love HUGE adjustability from them. Easy to adjust with the one hand while riding. Those of you looking for new levers should look into getting these!!! ASV also gives SWMO members a 10% discount.
Here's their post under the sponsor's section. http://www.swmosportbikes.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20904
When you email them at info@ASVInventions.com dont forget to tell them you want your 10% SWMO sportbikes discount. :D

Steve, how do you like the shorty lever on the clutch? I've heard of some people going short on the brake lever...but keeping the clutch lever long.
Nice levers....maybe after I get my new sprockets and chain on...I will look into getting some of those.
Honestly I was scared doing both shorties but I like the look. I'm getting used to them though. I still find myself grabbing the clutch with all my fingers but only 2-3 fingers fit on it now. :p I used to ride for like 10 yrs with only 2 fingers on the clutch anyway so I'm just reverting back to those days. I've only EVER braked with 1 or 2 fingers anyway.
You'll have to check them out.

how easy is the "pull" on the clutch with not that much leverage?

Id think a guy so concerned with the controls woulda scrapped the stock grips already.
Oh and the levers look good.

What'd they cost?
$250 with 10% off... so $225. A little more than pazzo or CRG but with the ability to go on any bike and have a 5 yr guarantee on breakage you can't beat it!

This is the third time I've read this, and it's eating me up.
What, exactly, stands a chance of breaking more after 5 years, than before? Do the levers say to themselves, "Dude, it's 2014, we can break whenever want to now!" ?
That's just odd, like, levers break all the time after 60 months of age or something, and the manufacturer did a failure-time analysis and is saying, "Whoa now! We sell a good product, but we can't let all these levers come back in six years! We'll go broke!"
Not saying they're not a good product, not saying that isn't cool that they stand behind their stuff, it's just odd that they put an expiration date on there like a can of greenbeans or something.

Companies accounting departments maintain a certain amount of money in their budgets for warranty failures. If they make warranties lifetime, these budgets increase forever. If they make warranties expire after a certain amount of time, they are able to write off potential expenses.

I agree with you (Why I joked about levers coming back in six years), I just thought it was wierd, and I wonder how they got that number. I think it's great that people are standing behind their product, even if the purchaser wrecks or drops their bike. Must be good stuff!
You planning on crashing a lot in the next 5 years?;)
At the track...perhaps.
