Visitor Messages how do they work

so do you just have to keep looking under your name or will it give you a pop up like a pm?

will it give you a pop up like a pm?Only PMs give the pop up notification, however a different type of notification will show up at the top right in the same place as the private messages.

another question about the visitor messages, when you delete them it still shows up just without the message, so is their a way to get rid of that or will it always say message deleted?

Hmmm not sure but I know that they are visible to anyone that views your Profile.
