So here we are, seven Fiddy's riding in my cul-de-sac. Someone calls the GREENE County SD on us... even though we are in Springfield City limits...

We ride off, a BATTLEFIELD cops pulls us over while we are riding IN THE DIRT to "detain" us. I ask why we are being detained and he gets a lil upset and says "I don't know what you guys did, but you have the Greene County Sherrifs looking for you. Now, I need to see everyone's ID".

OK, officer, why do we have to show our ID? Now I really pissed the guy off. He said "Becuase we check ID on everyone we pull over". Ok... why are we being pulled over? "Well, I don't know. Some of you (2) do not even have helmets on". I proceeded to tell him we were on "Motorized Bicycles" and if over 21 we did not need a helmet, and I had the rules on me. He continued to get upset with me... keep in mind... BATTLEFIELD COP.

TWO Greene County's show. They had a complaint that "juvenile delinquents were speeding on Golden"... the female officer laughed. I said, "Well... the Speed limit is 35... and we top out between 27-30 MPH". Again she laughed and told us to be safe. Some mention of "every idiot with a cell phone that has nothing better to do" and she said "plus we are not very busy right now so you guys became a priority".

The Greene county were pretty cool, I am just frustrated that I was asked for ID prior to being given a reason on a motorized bicycle.

Can I get your take Jack?

I live in Battlefield and I know the cops in Battlefield like to pull EVERYBODY over. If they haven't seen you before...be prepared to be pulled over. I saw them pull over a pizza delivery guy once. Every person I know that lives out there has been pulled over at least once. It's borderline harrassment is what it is. But then again, I guess it's better to have overprotective police than no police at all.

Yeah, prolly. I bet there were like "That is not a juvenile at all, it is a lil Mexican, prolly his only means of transportation. He has to get groceries for all his kids and both of his wives on that lil thing. Atleast he can reach the ground."

I don't have a problem with the police asking for ID. They need to know who they are dealing with, don't they?

They were probably just checking to make sure you're not wanted or something.
They do need a legitimate reason to pull you over though.
I understand that they are just doing their jobs and all, but it seems like some of them are total pricks for no reason though.
How is the old saying about catching more fleas with honey than vinegar, or something like that?

We need to locate a go-cart track where we can take the 50's. Check out this thread from Tulsa's sport bike web site...

I wouldn't know who or how to contact, but there is that out of business one south of Springfield. I have thought about that for when I get one of the pocketbikes.

I am glad you had the rules with you, nothing is more fun than making a smart ass shut up. If he is a cop or not. I understand your frustration Frank, nothing worse than someone in "authority" who doesn't know what they are supposed to be enforcing. Glad to see you put him in his place and didn't get harrassed too bad.

Yes Frank, you are required to show proof of a valid driver's license. You can be cited for not doing that. An no, they don't have to give you a reason prior to getting your I.D. Now you can give it verablly, but thats only going to extend your contact with the officer. He has to then run your name thru DOR and see if the physical and SSN match.

Now, would I give you a reason, yes I would. But not to play "lets make a deal" with the driver. If I ask for your I.D. and you refuse or want to be a smart azzzzz, then I'll get your ID at the Greene County Jail...and if you (not you personally Frank) don't want to tell us there who you are....you stay, no bond, no nothing until you can be identified. I'm a nice guy and I treat people how I'm treated. I have very litte patience with some people. My sister says that I'm made like a golf ball. I have a nice surface (personality she says) but inside I'm a bunch of rubber bands and you don't want to start cutting into. If any of you ever did that as a child, you'll understand her analogy.
