I have a scorpion slip on and the mid pipe is bent really bad. My father n law owns a muffler shop. If i have him fab me up a new mid pipe would I need to get a power commander or would i be ok? Is the midpipes straight pipes when you get them from the different companys. Any help Please?

Thanks

I'm no muffler expert, your father in law would be the one to ask. But there's more to it that meets the eye. I think with your bike the reasons you would need to get a power commander would have less to do with the midpipe itself than the fact you already have the slip-on, and it probably runs too lean to begin with.

As for the midpipe itself, engineers calculate lots of factors in exhaust design with regard to the headers and the midpipe, things like inner diameter, volumetrics and rpm's. Basically you're merging 4 pressure waves into 1 (headers to the collector) then on to the exhaust itself. Come to think of it, the 600RR's a center-up system. How on earth did that mid-pipe section get bent up?

Mainly, you need to duplicate the Scorpion mid-pipe's exact dimensions in all regards to ensure proper performance, if your FIL can handle that then I reckon it would work. What material is the midpipe?

scorpion has a lifetime guraentee on their pipes in cluding the midpipe so i would check in to that...if you are just replaceing the mid pipe and not he slip on as long as it is the same size and length should be fine.
