Ninja 500- Chopping the upper fairing?

I have been thinking about chopping the upper fairing on my ninja , just leaving the part that holds the windshield, headlight, and turn signals. The fairing was busted up pretty good and i am tired of sanding body filler and filling holes...I started working on it back in June and i just dont have the time or money to put into making the fairing and lower cowling nice again. I have the headlight and turn signals zip-tied to the bike for now and i think i like it better w/o the fairing and lower cowling on but i want to have the headlight, turn signals, and windshield securely mounted.

Does anyone have any thoughts?
