I'm trying to figure out the feasibility of adding an autolube pump to my Yamaha Banshee engine, but the 'net yields very little info. Does anyone here know where I can find out what's involved??
Thanks,
John

You need to know if the crank spline has the teeth on it to turn a pump. Did any of the Banshee's, or similair Yammies have autolube? Other than the convience-factor, why are you wanting autolube?

Well, the RZ350 had autolube, and I think it drove off the waterpump drive gear, but I'm not sure. The Banshee has a boss, drilled and tapped, for the autolube, but it's got a plug in it.
I wasn't sure if the RZ pump would fit the 'Shee, but I'd like to run the Banshee motor on the street, and premix is a PITA.

One way to find out is to get a good look at the parts microfiche and compare the crank p/n's and surrounding appurtenances. Chances are you can do this conversion, as manufacturers try to get as many parts to be interchangeable as possible. You'll most likely have to change your intake manifold or tap it for the oil feed (unless it is just blocked off or your carb has an oil nipple), as well as come up with the oil reservoir and inline oil filter. After this, your main jet will also be too large because it no longer has to accomodate both fuel and oil through it's single orifice.
Some pumps are cable-adjustable, which would require a throttle cable splitter, and 3 sets of cables (one from the throttle to the splitter, one to the pump cam and the other to the carb). Most Yammie pumps are of the simplest non-adjustable type.
Have you tried to search the Yahoo Groups for any Banshee forums? Oftentimes you'll find online parts/service manuals for free, as well as folks that have been down the same road.
I hear you on the PITA factor with pre-mixing, but day in and day out it is still the most reliable method. Having a well-organized pre-mixing routine takes a lot of the hassle out of the ordeal.

I've tried to find the 'fiche from the RZ, but no go. I think the oil pump drive gear drives off the water pump drive gear, but only your RZ knows for sure.

99% sure that's correct.
Do you have any AC RD engines?

I wish i could find the stupid microfiches. I think there's a bearing in the clutch cover housing, but I don't know.
I have some old RZ stuff (books, literature) buried away somewhere.......I'll look when I'm in.

Update:
The RZ pump bolts right in, and drives off the clutch drive gear.
Exxxcellent. And good to know
