Anyone have one of those Pit bikes that you get online for $600~ plus shipping? Thinking about picking up a dirt toy for the backyard next spring, and I know some of you have 50s. Just wondering where you bought them.

pm mrbodydrop.
i was going to wait till spring to get one too, but bought one last week instead. if i knew how much fun they are, i would have bought it last year:D
i would spend a little more and get the extended swingarm, stretched frame, and bigger wheels...especially if you are doing any two up riding.

Does it run ok, or is it broke down all the time?
I have 6 of these. One 124cc "big bike" and 5 of the standard CRF knockoffs. We've gotten our money's worth outta them............Take the time to loctite the hardware, change the oil right away and keep them garaged. The CRF sized machines flash rust if you look at them wrong..........the big bike is much more resilient.

I was looking at the 110 - 125. Did you order them online, or buy them local?
do not buy a china bike they are junk and do you really want to jump one???? i wouldent i cant stress enough not to buy a china! buy a honda and get the big bore kit and mine is still for sale you can buy mine and still have money to put a big bore on it.

Based on experience..........lots of hours of hard riding between 6 bikes/riders........I'd have to strongly disagree with that statement.

Bought my 124 Venom and two 70cc small CRF copies from a dealer in Michigan..........the other 3 50cc CRF copies from Wildfire motors in Ohio.
The three wildfire bikes have more rake to them, but typically run like stink. Several folks here have ridden them hard and can share their thoughts.

Let me qualify that.
If you purchase one of these units........do NO up front maintenance, ride it right outta the box with no adjustments/oil change, don't take due care of it.........They're junk.

Why would I spend $1500~ for somthing I'm not going to beat to death? I know that a CRF will outperform a Chinese replica of a CRF, but that isnt what I asked. I asked if I'm going to spend more time fixing it than riding it, which Brad answered perfectly.

Your gonna work on it more than you ride it and it's resale value will be sh!t. Thats why Brad has 6 of them! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And buy a used CRF!!!!!!!! Duh
well i ride with 50 INC and i suggest talk to Randy he will tell you if you dont wanna believe me..ya i jump them and i wouldent trust one! freakin frame brake or somethin! i still say buy a honda you get what you pay for. and what are you wanting to do with it??

Nah.........it's really not been that bad.
I bought 6 of these for around 2500.00 total.
The CHEAPEST I could buy 6 used CRF 50's for? About 4800.00
I can do a LOT of routine maintenance for 2300.00 difference.

My buddy has one of the 110cc Chinese CRF knockoffs with the extended swingarm, big bars, and some other little mods they come with. I've rode it a bunch, and for the $500 he paid for it, I think it would be hard to beat.
I've rode a few CRF 50's....and his 110cc China bike had way more power, and was much easier to ride with the bigger bars and longer swingarm.
I think it's an " Ohallie " brand, but I don't remember for sure. Sure is fun though.....and it seemed to hold up to my 210lb, 6'6" body pretty good :D

Perfect, I'm 6'3 and 200. Part of the reason I dont want to get a 50 is cos I dont want to try and bend myself enough to actually get my feet and hands where they belong. I hate playing Twister with a motorcycle.

I rode a streetbike in the dirt when I was in high school and destroyed all my shocks, which by the way, cost more than a 125cc chinese pit bike. I dont want to go out and buy an old CR 250 off craigs list because it will make too much noise for everywhere I want to ride it. Hence, a nice cheap *hopefully quiet* 4 stroke dirt bike that I can ride around my house, and around my lake house.

It was WAY more comfortable to ride than just a standard Honda 50. For the price, it's hard to beat. He rides it pretty hard, and has never had a problem with it.
This is the one he has.

Here are a few pics from the last time I rode it a few weeks ago. If I was on a standard CFR50, my knees would be up in my throat! It feels MUCH bigger than a CRF 50....and much more power.

I think it's all about your use and expectations. If you just want to putt around on the thing, do some wheelies, and chug around the lake...I think the Chinese bikes will work fine. However, as Brad said, they're not up to par with the Japanese as far as out-of-the-box fit, finish, assembly, etc.
I've been able to ride / work on a few of these Chinese bikes. You've got to keep an eye on them more. Steering stem nuts not tightened, out of true wheels, chains sawing into swingarms because the teflon rub blocks were gone, etc.
I wouldn't jump one, probably wouldn't stunt one, and wouldn't enter one in competition...but if you just want to fart around the yard and giggle like a schoolgirl, I think the Chinese bikes would be fine. A used CRF is still going to run you $500 - $700, wheras you can sometimes buy new ChinaBikes for under $500. It's up to you. I'd probably prefer a used CRF for $600, vs a new China bike for $400, but that's just me. I never know what kind of stupid stuff might be in store for the bike. ;)

Sorry for the thread jack. Back on topic.
Remember when the Korean cars (kia, Hyandi) came out? They were disposable cars. Now they are some of the best made. The Chinese stuff is following the same path. They are bought to play with then throw away when they break. That is why they are so cheap. Good while they last but not with the same quality or longjevity as the more established companies.

They didn't take off as good as Hyundai did. The Laganza is basically the same car as the Sonata. Plus daewoo didn't have a little sport car like the Tiberon or a SUV like the Santa Fe. They did make one that was brought into the US but it was long before any of the other ones came in. The Rocky. Sold by GM.

as far as the original topic of the thread. i have rode both the honda and the chinese bikes. although i would probably still buy the honda over the china bike, i out-ran the hondas all day long on a pink china bike. the only one capable of keeping up was a very modified crf50.

It's supposed to be in the upper 40's tomorrow and in the 60's wed. It'll be fine to go ride in.

What's shipping on one cost? I would be willing to go in with you on a few if we can split the shipping. I was told that they ship them on a pallet, and you can fit two bikes on a pallet......so if you buy two, you pay the same price for shipping.
I think it would be fun to have one to ride around at campground when ever I go camping with friends. Especially if the bathrooms/showers are a long walk :D

Good lord, now I have a mental image of you doing a HC wheelie through the campground in your bathrobe. Thats going to take alot of beer to get rid of.
I cant tell if they would ship 2 for the price of 1, they do say the more you buy, the less the shipping is. Along with a discount for the bikes if you buy more than one.
I am not looking to get one till spring, since I need to get rid of a few things before I buy another toy. Although, if you want to buy a boat, I can do it now. :D
