I was throwing some exhaust out the other day and came across some off a Z1000, the dual gold color ones. thought I'd use the RH side, cut it down some to shorten and lighten.

this is the left one, I didn't think to take pictures before of the one I'm actually using...

here is the RH one after the end caps and collector cover has been taken off. I had to file a couple places on each pipe to get the caps off.

the collector

the end, was hoping they weren't welded in but looks like they are.

I'm going to cut about 6" off each one. just have to figure out how I'm going to manage it without cutting the inside pipe at the start. I know I'm going to need some more hack saw blades.

hadn't thought about just replacing the existing ones with these till someone asked if that was the plan, this is going to be more like a dual GP style. Kinda... we'll see what it looks like towards the end. and depends on how much some custom exhaust pipe bending is going to cost.

anyway, I'm probably going to end up using this for the baffle with some packing around it.

make sure you get some pics of this when your done! Maybe a before and after example.

it's all going to depend on cost of the exhaust bending probably. I'll get it close for practically nothing. right now it's just going to be the cost of packing and re-bending the pipe that is on the mufflers.

hanging it may be another problem I'll have to figure out...

I'll post pictures along the way though.

Darrell, did you make that baffle yourself?

no, I scrapped a lot of exhaust that day and there was a pair of those in one of the box's.

I'm not that talented. lol

Dang it, I could have use a set of those for my sled exhaust, how thick are those?

they are 2" pipe, 13" long.

think they came out of a Vance and Hines exhaust.

I was talking aobut the Z1000 pipes themselves. ;)

got ya. sorry we only had one set. if everything goes right I'll have one side left over if that would do any good.

That's what I would need! how tall/think are they when laying down like in this pic and how wide are they too? What's the Diameter of each outlet?

About 7/8". They're stock, so therefore kinda corked up.

If someone wants baffles like the ones a few pics up, visit your local Harley shop. They're handy for tuning HD exhaust. I know Cycle Connection had boxes of them, all lengths and diameters.

this is where I got the idea. I know they aren't going to look exactly like these but I'm ok with similar. ;)

each can is 3" with about a 1/4" separating them so about 6 1/4" wide and 3" high.

here are some pictures of the insides

got it cut down and gutted today. have a line on someone that should be able to do the pipe bending, just have to find out how much now.

this may not be the final cut on the ends, kinda thinking about slash cut...

Damn that would be perfect! If you have that other side left over give me a shout.

anyone knows of someone with an 06/07 ZX10 that has replaced their exhaust and wants to get rid of the stock stuff can you let me know. I'm specifically looking for the piece with the exhaust valve. had another idea about how to do this.
