UPDATE: Have talked to the new owner of OIR, and Im going to meet with him wednesday about having some BIKE ONLY events at the drag strip !

Also, Friday nights TNT are not going to change... so the bikes will be running and running MORE OFTEN on fridays !

I disagree. I think having a 'bike only' event will be great. give a chance for the harley guys to show up see just how slow their bikes actually are. when you think of all the bikes around town, both cruisers and sportbikes, and their egos...it'll be big if promoted properly

Well the way I see it is that if you have a "bikes only" night.....if that event doens't fill the stands and parking lots the first time it happens, it's going to be the last. I know what you are saying about the "Harley" guys wanting to get down there and race ....but I divide those guys into two groups.

Group#1: The guys that are all talk, and will NEVER get out on the track and prove anything.

Group#2: The guys who are going to show up to the track drunk, get out there drunk, and get people hurt. Then the whole thing will be shut down.


That track makes money off of concessions, and the entry fees from the spectators. I don't think there are as many people around here (not counting us) that want to watch bikes race.......they want to watch wheel standing cars going balls out down the track. If there was that much demand for a bikes only night, they would have had them by now. Plus....as soon as you get some guys trying to show off and ride wheelies all the way down the track...that will put a stop to it.

I used to race a drag car for years down at OIR.....and I just didn't see much interest from the spectators when it came to bikes.

I'm not saying I don't want it to happen...I'm just saying that it probably won't...... :rolleyes:

wow, thats funny, i didnt know people hated stunters. it seems like this is the only sportbike forum i go on that gets **** talked on stuntriders. everywhere else is cool as a fan. as a matter of fact the general concesus is that stuntriders are a equal and integral part of the streetbike world. didnt know if u checked but its nothin new. and i was just makin a lighthearted joke. just a example of old school stuntin is the "wheelie King" doug domokos' granted its on a dirtbike but streetbikes weighed like a ton or something back in the day lol

Well, since the new track owner called ME, Im about 100% certain that your wrong...

He stopped by the store a couple weeks ago with similar conversation, unfortunately it was right at closing time. but the bike event is something he seems really interested in and excited about going forward with, and we're going to do everything we can to pack it out. even if you're skeptical that it'll fly, support it, spread the word, show up and lets have some fun!

I think it will work if you guys do the bike show at the same time.Or some thing else to do for the kids and people not racing.Maybe 1/8 mile 50 drags.Just find some other things because it will be hard to have enough drag racers to keep things moving.And don't forget some HOOTERS girls.:D
