So who all is going to the March 6th track day at Hallett? Come on post up.
1. Brian (both going down Saturday and camping out, possibly drinking beer with Scott that night too since he offered last track day and we couldn't)
2. Martha

I would like to go but the bike needs some work. I found a post in Tulsa by KeithM where he will follow you and film you with a tank mounted camera for an entire session and put it on a DVD for $50.

DAMMIT!! I am not happy. My wife pointed out that we will be getting back from St L Supercross at 2-3am and I have to be at Hallett by 8 AM. Not enough time to sleep (she says, pshaa). I obligated myself MONTHS ago to my son for the Supercross.
I don't want to crash from lack of sleep, so I am OUT.

Turned 1:30-32s in street group today (I'm the DVD/camera guy).
BTW I won't be doing any filming for a while as I bit it in turn 1 after my oil filter sprayed down both tires with a healthy dose of semi-synthetic goo!
I heard the cloud of smoke behind me was quite spectacular.

Dayum Kieth. That sucks I seen the big cloud of smoke then walked over to the fence just in time to see the guy on the Duc go down also. Hope you're ok.
Did you see the dude in novice class high side coming out of the beotch and get knocked smooth out?
I'll post up our 0.02 cents worth tomorrow when I'm not so tired from driving home.

Wow, we had a kick ass time at Hallett this go around. Well other than our canopy being invaded by some uninvited riders.
Martha was kicking some ass this go around. She shaved 6 seconds off of her previous personal best lap time. She was turning consistant 1:47's most of the day with a best of 1:45 and some change. She was passing people left and right coming out of the bit*h. The best was the last session of the day. I had been putting the tire warmers on her bike for the last few sessions so she would be able to go out on warm tires and I guess it was working b/c she had been chasing this one bike around the track for about 2 laps or so. Since the bit*h had become her favorite corner she started to pass him on the outside and was getting good drive out of the corner to do so. Then as she tops the hill there into the straight away into turns 9/10 she pulls a 2-3 foot power wheelie coming out of it. It was sweet she rode it for about 20 feet then just backed out of it, sat it down then back into the gas to finish out the lap. It was sweet looking. Martha had about 6-8 people come up out of the group she ran it and say "man, you were flying out there. You passed me like I was sitting still." Needless to say it was a good day for Martha. She's paying for it today too, she's a little sore.
I'm still hunting for lap times on this bike that I did last year on the R1. I had a problem spinning the tire coming out of the bus stop and the bit*h for some reason. I donno maybe just not got enough seat time with it yet I guess. A couple of the guys we let pit with us was running some tricked out SV650s that ran a suspension shop in Nebraska so I had them help me work on tuning my suspension a little, which helped. Oh well.
Seen several crashes. A couple went to the hospital, 1 with a broken arm (race group) and 1 with a concusion (sp?, novice group). The guy in the novice group high sided did it right in front of us and it didn't look to bad but it knocked him out so they wanted to take him in to check him out. He was out for about 3 minutes. It was pretty crazy just seeing him lay there. The corner worker wouldn't let his wife come over to where they were at to see him so she's standing there screaming and crying so that made it worse.
All and all, I would say one of the better track days we've been to.
I think we need to get together and all go like we did last year. That was great when we had about 15-20 of us there. Anybody want to try and plan on of those?

I'm not as sore as I thought I'd be. Tomorrow may be another story :cry
The guy that high sided was TSR guy, theSaint (Micheal). He had it leaned over and on the gas coming out of T9. He would've been ok but on the outer 1/3 of the exit you'll get a wobble if you're hard on it. I guess it was enough to break traction and toss him up and over. His wife was standing with friends directly in front of where it happened.
Even after they brought him back to his truck he didn't have his wits. He kept asking what happened and where he went down over and over. Paramedics ended up carting him to a hospital in Tulsa and got released around 9pm. I'm sure he's hurtin' today.

Way to go Martha, sounds like it is simply a matter of time till you are doing wheelies past all of us :D :D

Hooter and I get to talking about that yesterday at one of the stops we made, both of us are wanting to go to the track this year. I had a great time last year when we went down as a group and spent the night playing on the fiddy's(even though I was the first to draw blood on that second group trip down there)

KeithM.. Sorry to hear about your crash. Hope you get your bike back on the track soon. You didn't happen to have your camera running during the crash???
Sounds like a wild lapping day. The lapping days I've been to have been uneventful compared to this one.
I met Alex over by the stunt zone. I was working on using the slow clutch method to get first gear engaged while turning. At Hallett I can go through the Bus Stop and the Beotch in second gear but the turns are so slow that I come out about 2 grand under the power band. It would be nice to be able to get through those turns smoothly and come out in the power band of first gear.

SWEET!! It sounds like it was a good time!! I wish I were there.
Keith, were you running a FRAM filter? Was it a filter malfunction, or just not tight enough? Your 1:30 is a VERY respectable time, nice job.
Martha...MARTHA!! 1:45!?! WooHoo! You kick ass gurl!
B, you are being too modest, what did you turn? Sub 1:30?
When I get back out there, I hope to be able to turn a 1:50. <shrug>

Ehh I'm not that fast. I was having problems with spinning the tire on exit so I was tip toeing through some corners.

That's a no on being a FRAM. Since I'm not certain it was the filter's fault I'd rather not mention it. It is a widely used aftermarket brand though.
Right now I'm unsure just what caused it but I do think it was sufficiently tight enough. Something did dawn on me this morning what might have caused it but I'm still not sure.
Dunno

That is cool. I know some filters have failure. I personally have always had real good luck with EMGO's, and I have heard good things about the K&N's. I am Super picky about them since the consequences can be soooo bad.
HotRodTodd had one pop off completely, and he oiled the track enough it caused a Red Flag during a WERA endurance race.
