i went to mo-kan tonite to pactice for sunday.
gates opened at 6:30 lined up at 7pm 1st pass spun bad off the line, 2nd dropped rpm's to 5k slipped clutch still spinin 3rd and final left at 4k still spining. put it on the trailer and here i am.
So whats up with this, i do my burn out like i always do when i get to the line, my feet dont stick anywhere?
did the not prep the track, every time i've been to a bracket race the track is really sticky.

I had the same problem...but I completly quit racing!! Here would be a checklist of what it could possibly be...Add to the list Doc & TJ
1. There is such thing as doing too much of a burn out, no need to roast half the tire before one pass.
2. Weight. Check play with how much pressure you have on the back tire. I was lowered 3 in. in the rear and 3 in in the front and found out tht was my reason for spinning.
3. Tire pressure. What PSI are you running? I liked to run about 15 lbs (?) (That is whenever I checked it halfway through the race days)!!
4. Staging line. Make sure you are not lining up in the middle of the track i.e. If a car was to leave a burnout, launch from either the lines front his left or right tire to avoid any water, oil, or any other foreign liquids that would make you spin.
5. Clutch. I know you said you were slipping the clutch, try coming out at 3,000 then slip it all the way.
These are just some things I thought of in 5 minutes, dont get fustrated. Leaving the track tonight was proably the worst thing to do (Im not one to talk bc I would always do the same thing...get pissed off then leave). The only way to figure out your problem and ride your bike to its potential is too...
PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good Luck!

had my psi at 15, i have been doing this for awhile now, and traction has been a little issue, but not like this, i have lined up in the middle ONCE when i first started last year that was enough to never do it again, the bike went left the right, it was a wild ride for sure.
i'm running a Shinko sport tire 200/50/17 it is not the stickiest, so i have to heat it up more the usual, i'm running a 10" over swingarm, so its a new game this year, last year stock length with BT010 no need to even heat it up.
i'm running in the bracket races this year, so far i have had no traction problem , so it is not the swingarm, i have haD A COUPLE 1.58 60'S SO it hooks a little:D
THANKS for your reply

It was the rain. I never get traction after a rainy week. And the track isn't going to spend alot of time and money to prep for test and tune night.:D I can't get traction on race day at the KAN.

All true, sometimes you just have to compensate for the track.
The Prep or VHT they put down will vary. VHT isnt cheap so they put more down before a big event or when they know the "heavy hitters" are going to be there. last friday there was 0 track at oir.

some guy from mo-kan posted a reply overthere that he sprayed to the 1/8th mile, but had not used that sprayer all year, and it could of had water in it??
It was a very fustrating evening, i tried 3 times, then loaded up.
i might start heading down to tulsa on friday nights, the guy at that track says he preps it EVERY time the track is open.. test and tune or race day:)

Hey Jimmy, it did turnout that we had water in the sprayer on Friday night. Saturday we flushed the sprayer with alcohol and it came out milky. Obviously if we had known this Friday we would cleaned out then and it would have been just as usual.
As for how we prep the track, every race we spray to at least 25' off the concrete. No matter if it's a Street Drags, Fun Drags, Napa Bracket Race, etc.
What kind of cars that are running that day plays a role in traction as well. The more street tired cars running that day the more likely there are to be bald spots in the rubber, which translates to less traction for all vehicles.
VHT is expensive, usually after tracking it down (which in its self is a chore) then either halving to drive several hundred miles to get it or paying to have it trucked in its about $550 a barrel. Then it needs to be cut 50% with alcohol before it can be sprayed down. We went through 4 or 5 barrels of the stuff last year and I believe we are on our second barrel already this year.
Just a few points to ponder. Of course let me know if there is anything we can do... :D
