Has anyone here had any experience with custom headlights, custom fairing moldings, or custom exhaust?
In the distant future I'm looking to do some work, possibly fabrication, on my bike and for my skill level this is a fairly ambitious goal so I was hoping to pick brain of someone local.

I've done a bit. What you wanna know?
Well I'm looking at doing a few mojor things. Keep in mind this is a Kawi 250 I'm working on and not alot of people choose 250rs as a custom build base; so theres not alot of material out there for me to reference.
Im looking at removing the entire headlight/housing/nose along with the guage cluster if it cant be salvaged in a fashionable way. I intend to keep all my guages, I just dont see the stock guage housing looking good with the stock headlight housing removed. I want to know if the if I should try and use any of the original headlight mounts of If I'm going to need some metal work to make my own mounts. I'm also wondering If a single large lamp would be easy becuase I've thought about fabbing mounts for a set of Triple R headlights.
Second Im going to have to chop the side fenders. Im wondering how this is done gracefully without totally looking like a back-room hack-saw job. If I cant chop them the way I want I'll need to do something about the radiator becuase the 250s radiator...is not pretty, nor are its headers if not coverd by plastics.
Im still in the wind about tail end cosmetics becuase I'm quite fond of its tail as-is. Im considering and rear fender eliminator but thats not what I consider major.
I also would like to know what, if anything, I can do to make sure everything I do is still streed legal and going to keep it passing inspection.

If the headlight will be rigid-mounted, your life will be a lot easier.
If the headlight will be fork-mounted, measure your fork diameter, headlight mounting ears may be just a phone call away.
The bracket that mounts the fairing is the same that mounts the headlight is the same that mounts the guages, If you're going to toss it, you'll have to consider how to hang whatever's left. The backside of the guages is not the prettiest...
The 250R does not leave much that is visually attractive once the plastic gone. The mounts on the fuel tank for the fairing are difficult to work with, aesthetically.
Side fenders? You'll have to elaborate on what you mean.
Bodywork and cosmetics won't affect street-legality one bit. Start tossing lighting (i.e. turnsignals) and you may have trouble getting it inspected.

Edit: I think there will be some cooling system componants hanging out in the breeze if the fairing is gone, too, IIRC.
