I'm been tossing around the idea of installing one of the HID light kits on my bike...just to light up the road better at night. From the short amount of time that I've searched ebay, it looks like the kits go from around $35-$50 depending on what you get.

Has anyone installed the HID light kits on their bike? Doe they really put out more usable light that the stock bulbs, or do they just look "cool"? I have a buddy with HID's on is car....and I'm not sure I really like them. You can see 100% about 60yds out in front of the car, and then after that the road is just black. Not sure if that's how all HID's are, or just the ones he has.

Can anyone give me some advice on HIDs?

Thanks

I have HID's in the low/driving lights in the car, as well as the bike. To be honest with the bike, the Silverstars actually performed better because it was the correct bulb "type". I'll find an article that I would highly suggest you read before you drop in HID's.

The HID's work ok, however if you install the "projector" then they work great. You can buy the projector kits on ebay for about $60 I think. The projector is not that hard to install, just have to take the headlight housing apart. I can get you the name of the store I bought mine from if you want.

The projector is the proper way to do it as it minimized scattering of light do to the incorrect bulb type in the reflector. The article i'm trying to find goes over all of this, I just wish I could find it!!!

I've got 'em on one of my Harleys and really notice the difference - I can actually see in the country. I give them an A+

I agree. They're far and away better than any Halogen I've ran.

They do make cornering in the dark harder as the area you need to see is blacked out. For general night riding, they are the greatest invention since god himself said "let there be light."

Love em. But in the case of the HiD's you get what you pay for...so find a good set. Totally worth it.

If you want sometime you can take a look at mine in person. But I can almost promise you that you won't be disappointed. And I belive there is a lifetime warranty on them!

I am running a $60 set of Bi-xenons on mine without a projector bull**** conversion and I love them. Way brighter than any other lights I have ever used, including over priced silver stars! After installing them I had to install them on all my vehicles!! I am running a $35 set in the Super Duty now without any problems even after a weekend at SMORR!

Thanks for all of the info guys. I picked up a cheap ebay set of HID's for $35. I haven't got to ride at night yet, but just front testing them out in the garage I can tell that they are WAY brighten that the stock Halogen bulbs.
